Batt is a former CBS News executive. As an Executive Producer he was in charge of The CBS Early Show, charged with transforming that broadcast to conform with a refocused editorial branding of the network. The new hard-news focus drew positive attention from the New York Times and National Journal, as well as other publications. He managed a large and diverse staff around the world during some of the most challenging events of our time. During over 30 years in the news business, he worked from small market affiliates to the top of the network working as a field reporter, producer, senior producer and executive producer. For CBS News he wrote the Network’s Social Media policy and worked directly on integration and education through multiple corporate entities to ensure compliance with journalistic standards and personal responsibility of engaging in multi-platform news reporting.
After many years in New York he resettled to a farm near Charleston, SC. There he continues his pursuit of the story. He consults and works with a wide range of companies and entrepreneurs in developing their own messaging and helping raise their public personas. The engagement with business leaders has inspired a whole new endeavor to raise the profile of those who take risks, and by so doing keep American enterprise alive.
